Tour Details
At the airport we will meet you at the airport and take you to the ecolodge “Wasai MALDONADO”, where you will be greeted with a welcome tropical fruit drink. Then we will make a 4-hour boat trip through the Tambopata River to the Wasai TAMBOPATA Lodge & Research Center (box lunch in route).
During the trip we will appreciate the local farms, while groups of birds pass over the boat. We will have the opportunity to see great families of Capybaras, the largest rodents in the world. Reception, lodging at the Lodge.
After a brief rest we will make a brief through the nearby forest to learn the basic principles of ecology and receive a talk about the natural history of wildlife and observe the nocturnal life of insects, frogs of various colours, and an encounter with nocturnal mammals.
We will return to the Lodge for dinner. Here we will have the opportunity to listen to the characteristic sounds of the jungle that will turn into music for our ears, an experience that we will never forget. Overnight at Wasai TAMBOPATA Lodge. (L, D).
We will start our day early enough at 4:30 am to enjoy a light breakfast (coffee or tea), to begin our 40-minute trip upstream to the Macaw Clay Lick “El Chuncho” in Bahuaja-Sonene National Park. We will appreciate the beautiful natural landscapes and the wildlife that inhabits the banks of the river. On our arrival, weather permitting, we will observe one of the largest wildlife shows where hundreds of parrots and different species of macaws gather to eat clay, an unforgettable experience. We will take a soft walk along the river beach in search of animal tracks while having a snack in the middle of the Reserve.
At mid-morning we will return to the Lodge for breakfast and then rest to relax and later do adventure activities such as: Zipline, tree climbing, etc.. In addition to enjoying the facilities and surroundings of Wasai Lodge.
At 11 a.m. we will depart again for a 10-minute crossing of the river and enjoy the “Cascadas del Gato”, where we will swim in a “Natural Jacuzzi”. Here you can join our fishing activity and enjoy pleasant moments in the river where live more than 250 species of fish or kayak in the river.
After lunch, we will make an ethnobotanical trek in the rainforest along the Tambopata cross trail, in this section we will learn more about the medicinal plants and trees that grow in the area and that for many hundreds of years are part of the culture of the jungle natives and were passed from generation to generation; and we will also be able to observe the amazing ecosystem of the jungle where we will see palm trees walking, giant lupuna trees, snakes, and so on. At nightfall, we embarked again for a nocturnal search for alligators. Overnight at Wasai TAMBOPATA Lodge. (B, L, D)
Our days begin enjoying a good breakfast to make a boat trip to the Ecolodge Wasai MALDONADO, in Puerto Maldonado we will relax in our bungalows and enjoy a tasty traditional lunch of the Peruvian jungle. Then take a 30-minute ride enjoying the “Madre de Dios” River landscape, to the access trail to Lake Sandoval, a beautiful lake typical of the rainforest. We will do a 3 km hike to the shores of the lake. There we will board a traditional canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape and appreciating the wildlife characteristic of this area, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique birds of prehistoric appearance), monkeys, etc. And with a little luck we will be accompanied on the trip by complete families of giant otters that live in Lake Sandoval; we will also have the experience of entering the lake and enjoying its waters with total safety.
For the return we will make a walk to the river Madre de Dios to return to Puerto Maldonado where we will lodge in the Bungalows of WASAI MALDONADO, to enjoy a delicious dinner we will be able to make a walk through the city on foot or in bicycle. In addition to enjoying the swimming pool and a beautiful jacket always accompanied by very green vegetation. And as a complement we will be able to enjoy what remains of the night and the night life of Puerto Maldonado and then spend the night in the Wasai Lodge.

After breakfast we will return by boat to Puerto Maldonado to take our flight to Lima or Cuzco.
