Overview

Rainbow Mountain Trek

Vinicunca is also known as “The Mountain of 7 Colours” or Rainbow Mountain. This is a new tourist site near Cusco, Peru, located in the province of Quispicanchis.

A hike that has become very popular. And the best thing is you can visit in a day.

According to locals, this mountain and those surrounding it were covered with snow a few decades ago, and due to global warming, the snow has disappeared showing us an incredible view, and not only the view of the mountains, but also the Apu Ausangate, Cusco’s highest snow-covered mountain.

It is also said that the coloration of this mountain is due to the great quantity and variety of minerals that can be found if any mining activity is carried out, something that the locals intend to protect, since these mountains have not yet been declared protected and any mining company could take it in concession and destroy this beautiful wonder.

Visiting this mountain right now is still a great option if you are in Cusco; being there and connecting with nature is truly invaluable.
