Our Machu Picchu By Train 1-Day tour is an all-inclusive day trip departing from Cusco. You’ll spend the day exploring the famous mountaintop Inca site of Machu Picchu with a local guide who will share insights about its construction, history, and daily life of its residents. This trip is perfect for first-time visitors, families, and solo travelers, with a relaxed and non-strenuous pace.
Highlights of the tour include a 2-hour guided tour of the Inca ruins with a private guide, a train journey to Aguas Calientes town with stunning Peruvian rainforest scenery, and a chance to meet resident llamas and capture the best photos from prime vantage points. You’ll also see the Temple of the Sun, Condor Temple, Sundial, the Sacred Plaza, and more. All transportation, tickets, and a private guide are included in the tour price.
Note: Most of our Machu Picchu by train 1-day tours depart from Cusco at 03:00 am. However, if you prefer a later schedule, we can arrange it.
We’ll pick you up at 03:00 am and drive for 1.5 hours to the village of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley. From there, we’ll take a train to Aguas Calientes with breathtaking views along the way. Following the Urubamba River downstream of the Sacred Valley, we’ll arrive in Aguas Calientes at 06:40 am and take a 30-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu. Once you pass the Mapi checkpoint, your guide will take you to the Guardhouse for a postcard shot of Machu Picchu. You’ll then have a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, where you’ll visit the Sun Temple, Temple of Three Windows, Inca’s house, Main Plaza, Wayrana, Sacred Rock, and more.
After visiting the citadel, we’ll take the bus down to Aguas Calientes for lunch and board the 02:55 pm train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, we’ll travel by private van to Cusco, arriving at your hotel at 07:00 pm.
The route is the same for all trains; only the train cars vary.
